USA – Insurance idea to be promoted by state.

A recent attempt from the state of Indiana to provide health insurance to low-income citizens has proved to be an early success. However, the secretary of the Indiana Family & Social Service Administration declared that there's still much work ahead in order to inform state residents about the plan. According with him, it's required to bring more people into the process. Although the increase in the number of people applying to the plan is considered encouraging, they are far from reaching the aim of getting 130.000 low-income citizens covered.

The plan will offer low-cost insurance to adults in Indiana whose earnings are below the double of the federal poverty level, which is $20,420 for single people and $41,300 for a family of four. The plan will also include $500 a year for preventive care in procedures such as flu vaccinations, mammograms and also smoking cessation programs. The secretary of the administration also believes that such preventive services are one of the program's strongest features.
